Boeing Names St. Louis as Headquarters for Defense, Space & Security Division

St. Louis, Mo. (KFMO) - Boeing announced Wednesday that its St. Louis site will serve as the headquarters for its Boeing Defense, Space & Security business, moving the defense headquarters from Arlington, Virginia, back to Missouri.

The decision brings division leadership closer to more than 18,000 Boeing employees in the St. Louis region who support defense aircraft and munitions production, advanced manufacturing, engineering, and sustainment operations. The St. Louis site previously served as BDS headquarters from 1997 to 2017. BDS CEO Steve Parker said the move underscores the importance of leaders working side-by-side with employees to strengthen performance and deliver critical defense and space capabilities. Missouri 8th District Congressman Jason Smith praised the announcement, calling it a major win for Missouri workers and the regional economy.

Smith joined Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth at Boeing’s St. Louis facility during the announcement. Boeing is also continuing a multi-year, multi-billion-dollar investment in advanced combat aircraft production facilities in St. Louis, reinforcing the region’s long-standing role in U.S. defense and aerospace manufacturing.
