Boil Water Advisory Issued for Leadwood Water System Following Main Break

Leadwood, Mo. (KFMO) - A Precautionary Boil Water Advisory was issued Thursday, November 20, 2025, for all customers on the Leadwood Water System after a water main break disrupted service.

Officials say residents should take several steps to ensure their water is safe during the advisory. All water used for drinking, cooking, preparing food, diluting juices, and brushing teeth should be boiled vigorously for three minutes before use. Ice cubes should be discarded, and automatic ice makers should not be used until the advisory is lifted. New ice should only be made with previously boiled water.

Dishes and food-contact surfaces should be disinfected by immersing them for at least one minute in clean tap water mixed with one teaspoon of unscented bleach per gallon.

Residents are also reminded to allow boiled water to cool before consuming it.

Once repairs are completed, officials will conduct special water tests. If results return clear, the advisory will be lifted. Test results are expected around noon on Wednesday, but residents are encouraged to prepare for the possibility that the advisory could extend into Thanksgiving weekend.
