Bonne Terre, Mo. (KFMO) - The 2026 Bonne Terre Fishing Derby will take place Saturday, May 16, at Lakeview Park in Bonne Terre. The annual event is hosted by A1 Home Care and the Bonne Terre Chamber of Commerce.
The event is open to young anglers in three age divisions, including ages 6 and under, ages 7 through 11, and ages 12 through 15. Organizers say trophies will be awarded in each age group for the most fish caught and the biggest catch.
A1 Home Care Marketing Director Amanda Henson explained the age groups that can participate in the derby. She also reminded families that children must reel in their own fish if they want their catch to count toward trophies or prizes.
Organizers say the fishing derby has been a longtime tradition in Bonne Terre and continues to provide opportunities for children and families to enjoy the outdoors together. Henson says prizes will once again be part of this year’s event.
Henson says the fishing derby is also a chance to bring the community together as the summer season begins.
The event will be held at Lakeview Park, located at 27 Lake Drive in Bonne Terre. Registration for the derby begins at 7 a.m. Fishing competition hours are scheduled from 8 until 10 a.m., with lunch and prize presentations planned from 10 until 11:30 a.m.
