St. Francois Co., Mo. (KFMO) - An 82-year-old Bonne Terre man was injured Tuesday evening in a one-vehicle crash on Route D near Gillespie Road in St. Francois County and was later arrested on a driving while intoxicated charge.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash happened at approximately 6:51 p.m. on April 7.
Troopers say a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 was traveling northbound when it went off the right side of the roadway. The vehicle then struck traffic signs, a fence, and a tree.
The driver, identified in an arrest report as Richard D. Self of Bonne Terre, suffered moderate injuries in the crash. He was transported by Air Evac helicopter to Mercy Hospital South for treatment.
The Highway Patrol crash report states the driver was not wearing a safety device at the time of the crash.
According to an online Missouri State Highway Patrol arrest report, Self was arrested at 7:13 p.m. on a patrol charge of driving while intoxicated. The arrest report indicates he was held at Mercy Hospital South and later released.
The Dodge Ram was totaled in the crash and was towed from the scene.
