Bonne Terre Officer Named 2026 Municipal Officer of the Year at Annual Elks Appreciation Night

Desloge, Mo. (KFMO) - The 34th Annual Law Enforcement Appreciation Night was held Thursday evening, hosted by Roland Seals and the Mineral Area Elks, recognizing the dedication and service of local law enforcement officers across the region.

During the ceremony, the Bonne Terre Police Department announced Officer Matt Misuraca as its 2026 Municipal Officer of the Year.

Department officials say Officer Misuraca exemplifies dedication, initiative, and an unwavering commitment to public safety. Over the past year, his proactive enforcement efforts have focused heavily on removing narcotics from the streets of Bonne Terre. Through persistence and attention to detail, he has made a measurable and lasting impact on the community.

In addition to his patrol responsibilities, Officer Misuraca demonstrated extraordinary initiative by spearheading the development of a K9 program for the department. Rather than waiting for the opportunity, officials say he created it, investing countless hours into research, planning, and securing funding necessary to establish the program.

The new K9 initiative is expected to strengthen the department’s operational capabilities and enhance public safety efforts for years to come.

Police leadership praised Misuraca for refusing to settle for the status quo, consistently going above and beyond expectations, and setting a standard of excellence within the department.

The Officer of the Year Award recognizes his hard work, leadership, and the positive impact he continues to have on both the department and the citizens it serves.

Officer Misuraca was formally congratulated Thursday night for his service and commitment to making Bonne Terre a safer community.
