Buckle Up Blitz Campaign Begins in St. Francois County

St. Francois Co., Mo. (KFMO) - A seatbelt safety campaign is now underway in St. Francois County, with law enforcement stepping up enforcement efforts.

The Buckle Up Blitz Campaign begins Monday, April 20, in St. Francois County. The effort is a partnership between the St. Francois County Sheriff’s Department, the Missouri Department of Transportation, and the Missouri Traffic Safety Division.

Sheriff Jeff Crites says the campaign is focused on increasing seatbelt use and saving lives on local roadways.

According to Crites, statistics consistently show that wearing a seatbelt significantly reduces the risk of death in a motor vehicle crash.

During the campaign, deputies will be actively monitoring traffic and watching for drivers and passengers who are not wearing seatbelts. Authorities say those found in violation could face citations.

The Buckle Up Blitz Campaign is part of a statewide effort aimed at improving roadway safety and reducing preventable fatalities.
