Farmington, Mo. (KFMO) - Cedarhurst of Farmington is expanding its campus with the addition of a new neighborhood of independent living cottages, providing more housing options for adults ages 55 and older.
According to Cedarhurst officials, construction is expected to begin this summer. The expansion is designed to enhance the community's continuum of care by complementing its existing Assisted Living and Memory Care services while offering residents a maintenance-free lifestyle.
Farmington City Administrator Greg Beavers says the City of Farmington has been involved in helping move the project forward.
The new cottages will feature spacious two-bedroom floor plans with walk-in closets, full-sized kitchen appliances, laundry rooms equipped with washers and dryers, private garages that include electric vehicle outlets, covered patios and gas fireplaces.
Residents will also enjoy access to a community clubhouse offering several amenities, including a fitness center, putting green, dog park and shuffleboard courts.
Cedarhurst officials say the expansion will allow older adults to enjoy the privacy and independence of cottage living while remaining connected to the larger Cedarhurst community and having access to available services as their needs change.
Construction is scheduled to begin later this summer, with the new independent living neighborhood expected to welcome its first residents in the fall of 2027.
