Park Hills, Mo. (KFMO) - The Central School District is grieving following the unexpected death of a teacher at Central High School.
In a message sent to families, students, and staff, Superintendent Dr. Zech Payne said the teacher passed away at home Tuesday morning. The district described the loss as extremely hard to process, especially within what officials called a tight-knit school community.
District leaders said the passing represents the loss of a beloved member of the school family, noting that many students and staff members are grieving.
To help support those affected, counselors and additional support staff were made available at Central High School beginning Tuesday. School officials are encouraging anyone who needs assistance to reach out to a counselor at any time.
The district said additional information will be shared as it becomes available, including any family-approved details regarding services or ways the community can offer support.
In the meantime, district leaders are asking the community to keep the teacher’s family in their thoughts and to continue supporting one another during this difficult time.
