City Investigating Ongoing Water Discoloration Issues

Annapolis, Mo. (KFMO) - Annapolis city officials say they are continuing to investigate ongoing water discoloration reported by residents, but the exact cause has not yet been determined.

According to Mayor Scott Oatman, multiple water samples have been sent to the Missouri Department of Natural Resources over the past two weeks, and the city is awaiting test results. Oatman says the city’s water system is tested monthly and has consistently passed all required tests. Those results are available for public review at City Hall. City employees have flushed water lines several times since the discoloration began, which has reportedly changed from a lighter tint to a darker color.

Officials say crews will continue flushing lines as they work to identify the source of the issue. Residents who notice discoloration are encouraged to let their water run for a period of time, which may help clear the lines.

City leaders acknowledge that this has not worked in all cases and say they will provide updates as soon as additional information becomes available.
