Ste. Genevieve County, Mo. (KFMO) - After almost two decades of rescuing and caring for big cats, Crown Ridge Tiger Sanctuary in Ste. Genevieve County has announced it will permanently close in the fall of 2025.
Founded in 2004, the sanctuary has provided lifelong refuge for abused and neglected big cats while educating the public about wildlife conservation. As part of its closure plan, tigers Sebastian and Shakira will be rehomed at Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, while Thor, an elderly tiger, will remain at Crown Ridge to live out her life under the care of familiar keepers. The final public tour is set for Sunday, September 28, 2025, with lodging accommodations available through October.
Sanctuary leaders say they are grateful to supporters and proud of the lasting impact the organization has made on both animals and the community.
