Deer Activity Increasing as Cooler Weather Arrives, Drivers Urged to Use Caution

Park Hills, Mo. (KFMO) - As cooler temperatures settle into the region, deer activity is expected to increase, especially during early morning and evening hours.

Missouri State Highway Patrol Corporal Dallas Thompson says it’s important for drivers to stay alert behind the wheel and watch for movement along roadways.

Thompson also reminds drivers that deer rarely travel alone. If you see one cross the road, there is a strong possibility another is close behind. He encourages drivers to slow down in areas marked with deer crossing signs, avoid swerving, and always wear a seatbelt.

According to the Highway Patrol, November is one of the highest months for deer-related crashes across Missouri. Drivers are urged to stay extra cautious during this time of year.
