Detached Shed Destroyed in Tuesday Afternoon Fire Near South Drive

Ste. Geneiveve Co., Mo. (KFMO) - A detached shed was destroyed in a Tuesday afternoon fire near South Drive, prompting a large emergency response and a second alarm.

Emergency crews were dispatched just after 4 p.m. Tuesday to an address in the area of South Drive in Ste. Genevieve County for a reported structure fire. Responding to the scene were units from Stations 5, 2, 3, and 7 of the Ste. Genevieve County Fire Protection District, along with automatic aid from the Jefferson R-7 Fire Protection District and the Ste. Genevieve Fire District.

While firefighters were en route, they were updated that the fire involved a detached shed that was already heavily involved. The first-arriving pumper confirmed the structure had heavy fire showing throughout.

Firefighters quickly deployed two handlines and began a defensive fire attack in an effort to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to nearby structures and other exposures.

Because of the intensity and volume of the fire, a second alarm was requested, bringing in additional manpower to assist with suppression efforts and overhaul operations.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported in connection with the fire, however the detached shed was deemed a total loss.
