Iron Co., Mo. (KFMO) - Residents of Iron and Washington counties who lost work or had their employment disrupted by the severe storms, straight-line winds, tornadoes, and flooding between March 30 and April 8, 2025, may now apply for Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA).
The Missouri Department of Labor says the benefits are available following an amendment to the federal disaster declaration FEMA-4872-DR, which now includes individual assistance. Eligible Missourians may receive up to 55 weeks of unemployment benefits and re-employment services. Labor Department Director Anna Hui says a steady income is key to helping families recover after a disaster. Applications are being accepted through January 23, 2026, for affected individuals in 21 counties, including Iron and Washington. DUA is intended for those who do not qualify for regular unemployment insurance and whose job loss is directly tied to the disaster. Residents must provide proof of employment or planned employment at the time of the storms.
Claims can be filed online at uinteract.labor.mo.gov or by calling the Regional Claims Center at 800-320-2519. Those needing additional disaster assistance can contact FEMA at 800-621-3362 or visit DisasterAssistance.gov.
