Dittmer Man Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash on Route 30 in Jefferson County

Jefferson Co., Mo. (KFMO) - A 28-year-old man from Dittmer was killed in a head-on crash Tuesday morning on Missouri Route 30 in Jefferson County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash happened at 9:17 a.m. near the 8500 block of Route 30. Troopers say the man was driving a 2012 Ford Focus westbound when he crossed the center line into the path of an eastbound 2019 Dodge Ram driven by a 72-year-old Dittmer man. The younger driver reportedly overcorrected, steering to the right, but the Ram struck the left side of the Focus.

The 28-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was transported to the St. Louis County Medical Examiner's Office  from the scene.

The 72-year-old driver of the Dodge Ram sustained serious injuries and was transported to Mercy Hospital South by the Big River Ambulance District. Both vehicles were totaled and towed from the scene.
