DNA evidence has resulted in criminal charges against a man accused in a 2023 armed robbery at a Columbia liquor store.

Jefferson Co., Mo. (KFMO) - An Arnold man has been charged after authorities say he sent inappropriate messages to a child over the course of nearly a year.

According to court documents, 53-year-old Erik Robert Berg is charged with felony enticement or attempted enticement of a child. Investigators allege Berg sent inappropriate messages to a girl younger than 15 over a 10-month period.

A probable-cause statement filed by the Arnold Police Department states that the messages were sent between July 2022 and April 2023 through text messages, Snapchat, and email. Authorities allege that in those communications, Berg referred to the child using sexual nicknames and requested that she sleep with him.

Berg was arrested on February 24 and is being held on a $20,000 bond at the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro.
