St. Louis, Mo. (KFMO) - The Doe Run Company’s Maroon and Gray mine rescue teams brought home multiple awards from the 43rd annual Missouri Regional Mine Rescue Contest, one of the largest regional events in the country.
Hosted by the Missouri Mine Rescue Association and Missouri University of Science and Technology, the competition featured 14 teams from several states. Doe Run’s Gray team took first place in the field competition, while the Maroon team earned second. Individual honors also went to Gray team members Eric Click, Chris Brawley, and James Gamblin, who placed first in the first-aid competition, and to Mark Barton and Sara Laskowsky, who won the team technician competition. The two-day contest tested teams through simulated underground emergency situations, first-aid events, and technical troubleshooting challenges. Doe Run’s mine rescue teams train on a voluntary basis and regularly finish near the top in regional and national competitions.
In 2024, Doe Run employees collectively completed more than 48,000 hours of environmental, health, and safety training, reinforcing the company’s strong commitment to safety.
