Farmington, Mo. (KFMO) - The Farmington Regional Chamber is partnering with Helping Hands of Southeast Missouri Mental Health Center to launch a new community art initiative titled Expressions of the Mind: A Mental Health Art Showcase.
The project invites local artists of all ages and experience levels to use art to share personal stories and perspectives related to mental health. Artists are encouraged to submit original works that reflect living with a mental health disorder, supporting someone who does, or gaining a deeper understanding of mental health challenges. Each submission must include a brief written statement explaining the inspiration or meaning behind the piece to help connect viewers with the artist’s message.
Selected artwork will be featured at two major Chamber events, including the Celebration of Success Awards Banquet on March 20 and Farmington Country Days on June 5 and 6. Each displayed piece will include a QR code linking to the artist’s story or to mental health education resources tied to the artwork’s theme. The showcase aims to spark conversation, increase understanding, and reduce the stigma surrounding mental health. Organizers note that mental health affects people of all ages and backgrounds, with millions experiencing challenges that impact individuals, families, workplaces, and communities.
Community members interested in participating or learning more about the showcase can contact Michelle Ramirez at 573-330-8810 for submission details.
