Farmington Council, St. Francois County Commission, Advances West Side Development Project

Farmington, Mo. (KFMO) - Progress is continuing on a major development project on the west side of Farmington, located between Bray Road and Highway 67.

During Monday night’s city council meeting, City Administrator Greg Beavers said three key components of the project were addressed, including repealing an agreement between the City of Farmington and St. Francois County tied to the development.

The agreement involves St. Francois County assisting with infrastructure improvements to Bray Road to bring it up to standards needed for the project. District 1 Commissioner Kerry Buckley said the county will contribute a total of $500,000 toward its portion of the work, to be paid in two installments.

Beavers also said the council finalized a $2.9 million grant agreement from the Missouri Department of Transportation to fund a roundabout planned behind Hobby Lobby. The grant will cover half of the project cost, with the remaining portion locally funded through a loan agreement with the Missouri Transportation Finance Corporation. That loan agreement is scheduled to be reviewed by February 4, 2026.

In addition, the council approved a contract with an engineering firm to handle design work for the roundabout, as well as signal improvements on the Maple Street overpass.
