Farmington Police Officer Placed on Leave Following Sexual Assault Allegation

Farmington, Mo. (KMFO) - A Farmington police officer has been placed on administrative leave after authorities received a complaint alleging a sexual assault that reportedly occurred nearly ten years ago. 

According to information released on March 30, 2026, the City of Farmington was notified by the St. Francois County Sheriff’s Department of a complaint filed against a current Farmington police officer. The allegation involves a reported sexual assault said to have taken place in June of 2016.

Following the notification, city officials made the decision to place the officer on paid administrative leave effective immediately. Officials emphasize that this move is administrative and standard procedure, and does not represent a disciplinary action or a determination of wrongdoing at this time.

The officer will remain on leave pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation.

Authorities also clarified that the officer was not employed by the City of Farmington at the time the alleged incident occurred.

No additional details have been released as the investigation continues.
