Farmington Suspends Mosquito Spraying Program for 2025 Season

Farmington, Mo. (KFMO) - The Farmington City Council voted unanimously on Monday, June 23, 2025, to suspend the city’s annual mosquito spraying program for the current season.

The decision was made during the council’s regular meeting, where officials discussed the program and opted to pause it for the year. This is after concern was raised from residents about the toxicity of the spray. In light of the suspension, city officials are urging residents to take preventative steps to help reduce mosquito populations this summer. Residents are encouraged to eliminate sources of standing water where mosquitoes breed, such as clogged gutters, bird baths, old tires, and other water-holding containers.
