Fatal Crash on US-61 at Herky Horine Road Claims One Life

Jefferson Co., Mo. (KFMO) - Jefferson County authorities responded to a fatal two-vehicle crash on US-61 near Herky Horine Road on the evening of May 17, 2025.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol report, at approximately 10:33 p.m., a 22-year-old male driver from De Soto, traveling southbound on US-61 in a 2023 Honda CRB1000RR, was involved in a collision with a 67-year-old male driver from High Ridge, operating a 2018 Buick Encore. The investigation revealed the Buick was stopped at the stop sign on eastbound Herky Horine Road, attempting to make a left turn onto northbound US-61. The driver failed to observe the oncoming motorcycle approaching at a high rate of speed. As the Buick turned, it was struck on the left side by the motorcycle. The impact ejected the motorcyclist, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The Buick driver was injured but survived.

Both vehicles were totaled and towed from the scene.
