Chesterfield, Mo. (KFMO) - Emergency crews responded early Tuesday morning to a fatal plane crash at Spirit of St. Louis Airport.
Officials were called to the airport after reports of a plane down on the east side of the facility. Multiple sources confirmed the crash was fatal, though authorities have not yet released information about how many people were on board.
When crews arrived at the scene, the aircraft was reportedly on fire.
The airport is located near Interstate 64 near Long Road in Chesterfield, just a few miles from the Missouri River.
Emergency responders remained on scene Tuesday morning as investigators worked to determine what led to the crash. Additional details are expected to be released as the investigation continues.
