Inmate at Farmington Correctional Center Dies After Hospitalization

Farmington, Mo. (KFMO) - The Missouri Department of Corrections says resident Thomas Steele was pronounced dead at 7:57 p.m. Monday, May 25, 2026, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.

Steele was 57 years old and had been housed at the Farmington Correctional Center. According to the Department of Corrections, Steele was serving a 19-year sentence for first-degree child molestation and sexual misconduct involving a child from Polk County.

Records show Steele was received into the Missouri Department of Corrections on July 7, 2011.

Officials say an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
