Iron County Man Pleads Guilty to Setting Fire in Mark Twain National Forest

Iron Co., Mo. (KFMO) - An Iron County man has pleaded guilty to setting a fire that burned more than an acre of timber in the Mark Twain National Forest earlier this year.

Federal prosecutors say 46-year-old Jeremy S. Crocker admitted in U.S. District Court in Cape Girardeau that he intentionally set the blaze on March 2, 2025. Fire crews were able to contain and extinguish the fire before it spread further.

Crocker is scheduled to be sentenced in January and faces potential federal penalties for damaging government property and endangering public lands.
