Irondale Fire District Responds to Multiple Brush Fires Amid Dry, Windy Conditions

Irondale, Mo. (KFMO) - The Irondale Fire Protection District responded to multiple brush fire calls on Saturday, February 28, 2026, as dry and windy conditions fueled rapid fire spread in wooded areas.

According to the district, crews were dispatched three separate times during the early afternoon, at 1:23 p.m., 1:40 p.m., and 1:59 p.m. Firefighters worked to contain and extinguish the fires, which were burning in areas with heavy leaf cover and dry ground.

Officials say a combination of dry conditions and wind contributed to the quick movement of the flames. Crews were able to bring the fires under control before they spread further.

There have been no reports of injuries.

Fire officials are reminding residents to use extreme caution with any outdoor burning. Burn piles should always be monitored and never left unattended. Residents are also urged to make sure fires are completely extinguished before leaving the area and to avoid burning altogether on windy days.

With ongoing dry conditions in the region, departments across the area continue to stress the importance of fire safety to prevent additional brush fire incidents.
