Ironton Man Charged with Child Pornography

Ironton, Mo. (KFMO) - An Ironton man is facing felony charges after an investigation into child pornography.

Authorities say 45-year-old Nathanial Brian Sumpter was arrested Tuesday in the 300 block of South Burnett Street in Ironton. The Iron County Prosecutor’s Office has filed one count of Possession of Child Pornography and one count of Promoting Child Pornography in the First Degree. Sumpter remains in jail with no bond. Investigators say the case began with a Cyber Tipline report from an internet service provider.

A search of Sumpter’s home and cell phone reportedly uncovered illegal material. The South-Central Missouri Computer Crimes Task Force led the investigation, with help from local and state agencies.

Authorities remind the public that all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
