Ironton, Mo. (KFMO) - The Ironton Police Department handled thousands of calls for service and made significant equipment and technology upgrades during 2025, according to a year-end summary released by the department.
During the year, officers responded to 3,245 calls for service, including dispatched responses, in-person contacts, and telephone calls. Those interactions resulted in 378 incident reports, ranging from criminal investigations and motor vehicle crashes to public assistance calls. Officers also made 121 custodial arrests and issued 147 ordinance and criminal citations throughout 2025.
In addition to enforcement activity, the department secured $80,000 in grant funding during the year. The funding was used to purchase new ballistic vests, a patrol vehicle, and upgraded mobile data terminals, allowing officers to stay connected to critical systems while on patrol.
The department also received new body-worn cameras in 2025, upgrading older models and enabling real-time viewing of critical incidents from computers or cellular devices. The body camera upgrades were provided by the Ironton Board of Aldermen and Mayor.
The City of Ironton was also designated a Blue Shield City in 2025, reaffirming the city’s and police department’s commitment to crime prevention and public safety. Department officials say building and maintaining public trust remains a priority, encouraging residents to report suspicious or criminal activity when observed.
Looking ahead, the Ironton Police Department says 2026 has already started as a busy year. Plans are in place to host community engagement events such throughout the year, giving residents an opportunity to meet officers and discuss community concerns.
Officials say they look forward to a productive and positive year ahead.
