Jefferson County Deputies Seek Person of Interest in Vehicle Fire Near De Soto

Jefferson Co., Mo. (KFMO) - The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a car fire that destroyed a 2001 Dodge Stratus south of De Soto and is seeking a person of interest in the case.

Deputies were called to a home in the 3500 block of Highway V on September 24 after the De Soto Rural Fire Protection District reported the vehicle was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived. Investigators said the blaze appeared to have started inside the car, with no signs of an electrical malfunction near the engine. The vehicle’s owner told deputies she had been arguing with a friend prior to the incident and believes that person may have started the fire.
