Jefferson Co., Mo. (KFMO) - A rural residence in Jefferson County was destroyed by fire late Sunday night despite a large response from area fire departments.
According to fire officials, crews were dispatched by Jefferson County 9-1-1 Dispatch during the late evening hours of June 21, 2026, to the intersection of Harmony Hills Road and Fountain City Road following reports of a large fire in the area.
Fire crews arrived on scene and found a single-story residential structure fully involved in flames. Due to the extent of the fire, firefighters immediately requested a first-alarm assignment, bringing additional personnel and equipment to the scene.
Firefighters encountered significant challenges while battling the blaze. Officials said the home was located in a secluded area with a narrow, overgrown access route, making it difficult for larger apparatus to reach the structure. Smaller firefighting vehicles were specifically dispatched to assist with suppression efforts.
After approximately one hour of firefighting operations, crews were able to bring the fire under control. However, the residence sustained catastrophic damage and was declared a total loss.
The Missouri State Fire Marshal’s Office was requested to respond and will investigate the cause and origin of the fire. No information regarding injuries has been released.
