JKK Inheritance Haven Raises Awareness During National Human Trafficking Awareness Month

Washington Co., Mo. (KFMO) - January is National Human Trafficking Awareness Month, and JKK Inheritance Haven in Potosi is continuing its mission to educate the community about the realities of human trafficking.

Founder Ronni Dubois says raising awareness is one of the most important tools in fighting the crime, noting that many people don’t realize trafficking is happening in their own communities.

Dubois says human trafficking doesn’t always look like what people see in movies, and victims are often hidden in plain sight.

She encourages people to watch for warning signs such as individuals who appear fearful or anxious, avoid eye contact, are unable to speak for themselves, show signs of physical abuse, or seem to be under the control of another person.

Dubois also says sudden changes in behavior, lack of personal identification, or being closely monitored by someone else can be red flags. JKK Inheritance Haven works to provide education and resources aimed at prevention and awareness throughout the Parkland.

Organizations interested in having Ronni Dubois speak can contact her at 573-854-2031.
