Jefferson City, Mo. (KFMO) - The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) has announced the 35 educators selected as Regional Teachers of the Year for the 2027 Missouri Teacher of the Year Program, and one of those honorees is from the Parkland.
Christine Logan-Hollis, a seventh and eighth grade science teacher at Kingston K-14 School District, has been chosen to represent her region in the statewide program recognizing outstanding educators.
DESE's annual Teacher of the Year program celebrates teachers who make exceptional contributions to student learning while inspiring and supporting their school communities.
"Our Regional Teachers of the Year represent the dedication we see in classrooms statewide," said Interim Commissioner of Education Dr. Stacey Preis. "These educators go above and beyond to ensure students feel supported, challenged, and empowered to succeed. We are honored to recognize their outstanding work and grateful for the lasting impact they make on our schools and communities."
This year's Regional Teachers of the Year represent a wide range of grade levels and subject areas from across Missouri.
The selection process began with more than 600 teacher nominations submitted from 321 school districts statewide. Regional honorees will now move forward in the competition, with the Teacher of the Year selection committee reviewing applications before announcing state semi-finalists in August.
The Missouri Teacher of the Year Program recognizes educators who demonstrate excellence in the classroom while making a lasting impact on their students, schools, and communities.
