Farmington, Mo. (KFMO) - Leadco Community Credit Union is warning its members about an active phone scam involving callers impersonating the institution’s fraud department.
According to the credit union, members have reported receiving phone calls that appear on caller ID as “Leadco.” In these calls, the individual on the line claims there is a fraud alert on the member’s debit card and asks for verification, including the last digits of the card number.
Officials emphasize that this is a scam and that Leadco’s fraud department will never ask members to provide debit card numbers over the phone. While the fraud team may verify a member’s identity, they will not request sensitive card information in this manner.
Members who receive a suspicious call, or are unsure about the legitimacy of a call, are urged to hang up immediately and contact Leadco directly using the official phone number at 573-747-1882.
For after-hours concerns, members should use the credit union’s dedicated fraud line at 1-888-241-2440.
Leadco is encouraging members to remain cautious and avoid sharing personal or financial information unless they have initiated contact using verified phone numbers.
