Leadington, Mo. (KFMO) - The Leadington Police Department is reminding motorists that Missouri law requires most passenger vehicles to display both a front and rear license plate properly mounted on the vehicle.
According to the department, officers continue to see vehicles operating with missing front plates, improperly displayed license plates, or plates placed on dashboards or inside windshields. Police say those methods do not comply with Missouri law.
Officials say the front license plate must be securely mounted on the exterior front of the vehicle, clearly visible, and unobstructed.
The department says proper display of both license plates helps law enforcement identify vehicles, supports tolling and traffic systems, and can assist during emergencies or criminal investigations.
Leadington Police encourage all drivers to take a moment to inspect their vehicles and ensure they are properly equipped and in compliance with state requirements.
