Park Hills, Mo. (KFMO) - A major winter storm is moving toward the Parkland and is expected to bring significant snowfall along with dangerously cold temperatures.
Meteorologist Melissa Delia with the National Weather Service in St. Louis says the storm will have a major impact on southern Missouri, particularly areas south of Interstate 70.
She warns residents to prepare for hazardous travel conditions and bitter cold as the system moves through the region.
Forecasts are calling for widespread snowfall totals of 7 to 11 inches across the Parkland, with the heaviest snow expected to fall over a relatively short period of time. The combination of heavy snow and falling temperatures could make roads slick and dangerous. Residents are encouraged to monitor weather updates, limit travel if possible, and take precautions to stay safe during the storm. Local officials also urge drivers to allow extra time, keep emergency supplies in their vehicles, and check on vulnerable neighbors as conditions worsen.
KFMO B104 News will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
