Bismarck, Mo. (KFMO) - A man was taken into custody following a disturbance involving reported gunfire Sunday afternoon in Bismarck.
According to the Bismarck Police Department, an officer was dispatched around 12:40 p.m. Feb. 15 to the 1200 block of Spruce Street after multiple 911 calls reported shots being fired in the area.
When the officer arrived, contact was made with a man identified as Randy Jackson. Police said the officer recognized Jackson from previous investigations and was aware that he had an active arrest warrant. Jackson was also identified as a suspect in earlier reports of shots fired in the neighborhood.
Jackson was informed he was under arrest but fled back into the residence, prompting officers to request additional assistance. Deputies with the St. Francois County Sheriff’s Office and troopers from the Missouri State Highway Patrol responded and established a perimeter around the home.
After being given commands over a police vehicle’s public address system, Jackson exited the residence a short time later and was taken into custody without further incident. He was transported to the St. Francois County Jail.
Two other occupants of the home, including a small child, were safely evacuated during the incident.
Police said a search warrant was later issued by the St. Francois County courts and served at the residence. Evidence was collected, probable cause was established, and an arrest warrant was issued.
Jackson is charged with felony harassment, armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon, and resisting or interfering with arrest or detention. His bond was set at $250,000.
