Jefferson Co., Mo. (KFMO) - A 67-year-old Jefferson County man is facing a felony domestic assault charge following an incident reported earlier this month west of Hillsboro.
According to court documents, Patrick Porter is accused of attacking an alleged victim with whom he is in a relationship and lives. The incident was reported on January 1, when deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office were called to a residence after an argument reportedly turned violent. Investigators say Porter allegedly choked the victim and threatened to kill them. The probable-cause statement indicates the alleged victim was able to escape, grab a knife to keep Porter away, and call 911.
Court records state Porter allegedly admitted to assaulting the victim. Porter was formally charged on January 2 with first-degree domestic assault, a Class B felony. The charge carries a possible sentence of five to 15 years in prison.
Porter remains in custody at the Jefferson County Jail in Hillsboro without bond. The case remains under investigation.
