St. Louis, Mo. (KFMO) - St. Louis County Police say an officer-involved shooting at St. Louis Lambert International Airport early Friday morning left a man dead. According to the St. Louis County Police Department’s Bureau of Crimes Against Persons, the incident happened around 1:05 a.m. in Terminal 1 during a routine security check.
Police spokesperson Vera Clay says officers encountered an adult male armed with a knife in an area he should not have been.
The airport police officers involved have been with the STL Airport Police for six months and one year, each with prior law enforcement experience. No officers were physically injured.
The St. Louis County Police Bureau of Crimes Against Persons has taken over the investigation. Authorities say this remains an active and evolving case, and additional details will be released as they become available.
