Fremont, Mo. (KFMO) - The Missouri Department of Conservation is asking for tips after an adult bull elk was illegally shot and left in a field at Peck Ranch Conservation Area the night of November 25, 2025.
Conservation agents found the elk off Trail 1 with a fatal gunshot wound to its shoulder and heart. Tire tracks at the scene suggest someone drove into the field and left quickly. Missouri’s Operation Game Thief is offering a $15,000 reward for information leading to a conviction.
