Mineral Area College Named Among Nation’s Top 200 by Aspen Institute

Park Hills, Mo. (KFMO) - Mineral Area College has been recognized by the Aspen Institute as one of the top 200 community colleges in the nation eligible to compete for the 2027 Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence.

The $1 million prize is considered the nation’s top honor for community colleges, celebrating high achievement in areas such as student retention, completion, and transfer success.

Mineral Area College President Dr. Joe Gilgour said the recognition highlights the dedication of faculty and staff to the students.

The Aspen Institute selected the colleges based on publicly available data reflecting strong student outcomes. Over the next 20 months, the finalists will undergo an in-depth review process to determine the overall winner, which will be announced in spring 2027.
