Park Hills, Mo. (KFMO) - A student at Mineral Area College is receiving statewide recognition for academic excellence and leadership.
Ashley Edgar has been named to the Phi Theta Kappa All-Missouri Team, an honor awarded to top two-year college students across the state. The recognition was presented during an awards luncheon held April 9, 2026, at Stephens College, hosted by the Missouri Community College Association.
The All-Missouri Team highlights students who demonstrate outstanding achievement in academics, leadership, and community service.
Edgar, a resident of Potosi, has been an active member of the college’s Phi Theta Kappa Lambda Chapter and the National Society of Leadership and Success. According to PTK advisor Alison Sheets, Edgar played a key role in a recent outreach effort that expanded the chapter’s impact.
In October, Edgar helped coordinate a partnership with the Potosi Elks Club to establish an off-campus collection site for toiletry donations. That effort led to an additional 100 items being collected and sent to enlisted service members stationed at Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar.
Edgar is a consistent Dean’s List student and is set to graduate from Mineral Area College this spring with an Associate of Arts degree. She plans to continue her education at Missouri University of Science and Technology, where she will pursue a degree in geological engineering.
Phi Theta Kappa is the official honor society for two-year colleges, with more than 1,200 chapters worldwide and millions of members since its founding in 1918.
