Missouri Attorney General Secures Nearly $100,000 Restitution Judgment in St. Francois County Contractor Fraud Case

Jefferson City, Mo. (KFMO) - The Missouri Attorney General’s Office announced it has secured a judgment totaling nearly $100,000 in restitution against Dustin D. Golden, owner of G5 Contracting, following an investigation into contractor fraud involving deceptive home repair practices in St. Francois County.

According to the Attorney General’s Office, Golden pleaded guilty to four felony counts of deceptive business practices, two felony counts of financial exploitation of an elderly person, and two felony counts of stealing.

Attorney General Catherine Hanaway said contractor fraud can have devastating financial impacts on families and seniors living on fixed incomes.

“Contractor fraud completely undermines financial stability for families and seniors on fixed incomes,” Hanaway said. “If someone scams you out of your last thousand dollars when you’re trying to repair your home, it rocks your world. This office will continue to root out fraud and protect everyday Missourians.”

Investigators said Golden used G5 Contracting to promise residential contracting services in exchange for substantial upfront payments from customers. The projects reportedly included concrete work, kitchen and bathroom remodeling, fencing, electrical wiring, and other construction-related services.

Authorities alleged that after receiving payment, Golden either completed very little work or failed to perform any work at all. Investigators further stated that Golden later promised refunds to customers before eventually cutting off communication with them.

The case stemmed from a 2025 indictment issued by a St. Francois County grand jury. Golden later pleaded guilty to all eight felony counts listed in the indictment.

The court ordered Golden to pay $96,500 in restitution to victims.

Golden also received four-year prison sentences for each deceptive business practices conviction and seven-year sentences for each financial exploitation and stealing conviction. Court records show all sentences will run concurrently, with execution of the prison terms suspended.

In addition, Golden was placed on supervised probation for five years.
