BBB Warns of “Ghost Tapping” Scam Targeting Missourians

St. Louis, Mo. (KFMO) - The Better Business Bureau is warning Missourians about a new scam called “Ghost Tapping” that targets tap-to-pay credit cards and mobile wallets.

Scammers use portable tap machines to steal payments by bumping into people in crowded places like festivals, flea markets, and concerts. Experts advise using caution in public spaces, keeping wallets and cards protected, and opting to insert cards instead of tapping when possible.

The BBB also recommends using its free Scam Tracker tool to report and monitor suspicious activity.
