Jefferson City, Mo. (KFMO) - The Missouri Department of Conservation is reminding waterfowl hunters that reservations for managed waterfowl hunts this fall will be accepted online from September 1 through September 18.
Reservations are required to guarantee an opportunity to hunt on one of MDC's 13 intensively managed wetland conservation areas.
There are three ways hunters can obtain a spot at a managed waterfowl hunting area. Missouri residents can apply online for a reservation. Successful applicants are guaranteed a place to hunt on a specific day at a specific managed area. Residents and nonresidents can also hunt with a reservation holder. Hunting parties can include up to four people.
Hunters without reservations can arrive at a managed waterfowl hunting area and participate in the morning drawing, also known as the "poor line," for an available hunting spot.
MDC says its managed wetlands provide some of the best public waterfowl hunting opportunities in Missouri. However, waterfowl hunting is also available on other conservation areas, as well as numerous public and private locations throughout the state.
Hunters are encouraged to review MDC's waterfowl hunting regulations and reservation information before heading into the field.
