Missouri Speed Limit Bill Heads to Governor

Jefferson City, Mo. (KFMO) - A bill that would increase speed limits on some Missouri roadways is now in the hands of Governor Mike Kehoe after receiving approval from state lawmakers.

According to FOX reporter CJ Papa, the legislation would allow higher speed limits on certain highways and interstates throughout Missouri.

The proposal still faces another hurdle even if Governor Kehoe signs the bill into law. Final approval would also be required from the Missouri Transportation Commission before any speed limit changes could officially take effect.

Supporters of the measure say the increase would help traffic flow more efficiently on modern highways, while opponents have raised concerns about safety and the potential for more serious crashes at higher speeds.

The timeline for a possible decision from Governor Kehoe has not yet been announced.
