Missouri Submits Rural Health Transformation Plan to Federal Officials

Jefferson City, Mo. (KFMO) - Governor Mike Kehoe and the Missouri Department of Social Services have submitted the state’s Rural Health Transformation plan to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.

The initiative aims to expand healthcare access, improve care coordination, and strengthen long-term sustainability for rural hospitals and providers. The plan focuses on increasing primary care, behavioral health, and maternity services in rural communities, while also enhancing specialty and complex care through telehealth. It also encourages collaboration among local healthcare partners to improve operations and patient outcomes.

The proposal will now be reviewed by federal officials, with funding awards expected to be announced by the end of 2025.
