St. Louis, Mo. (KFMO) - The Missouri Department of Transportation has been planning ahead for the upcoming winter storm to ensure highways across the state are treated and maintained as conditions worsen.
MoDOT Director Ed Hassinger says crews will be working around the clock throughout the storm to keep roadways as safe as possible.
Hassinger emphasizes that preparation is key and is urging motorists to stay off the roadways as much as possible, allowing crews the space they need to work efficiently. He explains the step-by-step process MoDOT uses before, during, and after winter storms to treat roads.
Hassinger adds that due to the expected snowfall and dangerous conditions, it will take crews a significant amount of time to fully clear highways once the storm moves through.
Motorists are encouraged to check the latest road conditions before traveling by visiting the MoDOT Traveler Information Map online.
