New Law Updating Missouri’s Underground Facility Safety Rules Goes Into Effect Thursday

Jefferson City, Mo. (KFMO) - A new law is bringing changes to Missouri’s Underground Facility Safety and Damage Prevention Act.

Governor Mike Kehoe signed Senate Bill 133 on July 14, 2025, with the updates taking effect on August 28. The measure is designed to strengthen damage prevention, improve safety, and modernize communication between stakeholders. Among the most significant changes is a revision to the Ticket Life for excavation notices submitted through Missouri 811.

With this new law, excavation notices will remain valid for 21 consecutive calendar days from the stated start date of work, expiring at 11:59 p.m. on the twenty-first day.
