Park HIlls, Mo. (KFMO) - The Missouri Department of Transportation is encouraging students across the state to explore careers in transportation by applying for the 2026 Youth Transportation Conference.
The conference, commonly referred to as YTC, will be held July 6–10 on the campus of Lincoln University in Jefferson City and is free of charge for selected participants.
MoDOT Area Engineer Corbin Carlton says the conference provides students with a firsthand look at the many career opportunities available within the transportation industry. He says participants will have the chance to explore engineering and transportation-related fields while building meaningful connections with MoDOT staff members as they begin considering their future career paths.
The conference is open to students currently in grades 9 through 12. Students finishing 8th grade this school year, as well as graduating seniors, are also eligible to apply. Up to 40 students from across Missouri will be selected to attend.
Participants will take part in hands-on activities, field trips, office and job site tours, and hear from speakers representing various divisions within MoDOT and related organizations.
Students interested in attending must complete an application and submit one letter of recommendation. Applications are being accepted through April 24.
More information and the downloadable application are available on the conference website at modot.org/modot-youth-transportation-conference-ytc.
