Jefferson Co., Mo. (KFMO) - Drivers traveling through the U.S. 67 and Interstate 55 corridor this weekend should plan ahead, as the Missouri Department of Transportation schedules multiple closures for ongoing construction work.
MoDOT crews will close the entrance ramp from southbound U.S. 67 to northbound I-55 beginning at 8:00 p.m. Friday, April 17 through 5:00 a.m. Monday, April 20. The closure is necessary for concrete paving operations as part of ongoing improvements in the area.
During the closure, a signed detour will direct drivers traveling on U.S. 61/67 to access northbound I-55 using the Route A interchange. Motorists are encouraged to follow posted signage and allow extra travel time.
In addition, Herky Horine Road beneath I-55 will also be closed from 7:00 p.m. Friday through 5:00 a.m. Monday. The closure is needed for demolition of the old northbound bridge structure. Traffic on I-55 has already been shifted onto a newly constructed bridge, allowing crews to safely remove the previous structure.
MoDOT officials note that all lanes of I-55 will remain open during the work. However, drivers should remain alert for workers and equipment in the area.
All scheduled work is weather permitting, and all detours will be clearly marked.
