MoDOT to Close Route W Bridge in Washington County for Rehabilitation Project

Washington Co., Mo. (KFMO) - The Missouri Department of Transportation has announced a bridge rehabilitation project that will temporarily close Route W in Washington County beginning in early June.

According to MoDOT, Route W at the Ashley Branch Bridge southeast of Bourbon is scheduled to close to all traffic starting Monday, June 1. The closure is expected to remain in place around-the-clock through the end of July while crews replace the bridge deck, which is the driving surface of the structure.

MoDOT has contracted Louis-Company, LLC to complete the project. Drivers who normally use Route W in the area will need to follow alternate routes during construction.

Officials say the bridge was originally built in 1963. While the supporting structures remain in good condition, the bridge deck has reached the end of its useful life and needs replacement. The new driving surface will remain 24 feet wide, matching the current bridge dimensions.
